Auxilium Art Gallery invited me to participate in Colectivo Relevo and their first edition of an art-as-therapy program dedicated to teenagers who suffer from cerebral palsy. I worked with José Ángel, Jessica and María del Carmen, from the Nuevo Amanecer Institute in my hometown Monterrey, Mexico.
They experimented and played in the dark making shapes with a laser on the wall over a 20 to 30 seconds interval; only after exposure time, with the completed shot, we would know the results. I toyed around with the results to create kaleidoscopic forms and intervened to create a final piece with the three pictures they generated.
I really liked the idea that the participants could have the same creative process of experimentation that any other artist goes through. That is, with a more “fun” approach.
100% of sales were donated to the Nuevo Amanecer Institute.
